SMEI’s Annual Conferences provide a forum for all involved in and interested in music education to share findings from research and practice, and a network to share and discuss views, observations and information.

The society undertakes to run a conference within each academic year. In 2020/2021 the conference was replaced with a series of online webinars, due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021/2022, SMEI curated its first online conference which marked the 10th anniversary of the first annual conference in 2011.
