Welcome to the membership area of our new website.

SMEI welcomes your voice. As a member you have voting rights at our General Meetings (AGMs and EGMs) but we also invite you to contact us at any point regarding any music education matter that may be of concern and/or interest to you.

The SMEI membership directory is a new venture for our society. We would encourage all members to be listed in the directory. There is an option to opt out. You can control how much data you share - an image, number or your area. You can list your areas of expertise, experience and research interests - or none at all - these are controlled in your profile tab. If you do share your profile publicly, website users will have the opportunity to contact you through the webpage. If you do receive an email, the person will have passed a verification process. Your email is not shared until you reply to the email. If you have any difficulty updating your profile please drop us a line.

Membership benefits include reduced rates at all SMEI events and be part of the committee. There is 20% discount on Taylor & Francis publications, the code is: SMI22. There are also possibilities to apply for some professional opportunity grants. You will receive regular updates about music education events that may be of interest to you including our annual conference (usually around November). In addition, SMEI has international links through its membership of ISME’s Council of Professional Associations and has ties to such organisations as European Association for Music in Schools (EAS). We are working on hosting SMI Thesis register and a SMEI member Google Group.
